Did you know that the click through rate (CTR) for websites ranked # 1 on Google is approximately 32%? More than 10x the click through rate of organic result # 10. Even more telling is that less than 1% of Google searchers end up clicking on the second page. Ouch.

Businesses not on the first page of Google are missing the boat with a click through rate of less than 1%.

I don’t know that we necessarily need to spell out these statistics for you, but we will anyway. The rich get richer. Much richer. While the poor, in this case, stay poor. There are only a handful of winners in the game of SEO, and while the analogy may sound dire, it is not as hopeless as you might think.

SEO is a winnable game. And there are many games inside the game. You see, you may not rank in the top 10 for the phrase “dentist rochester ny”. But if you were to search for “rochester ny dentist” you may very well find yourself at # 1.

FULL DISCLAIMER: There is no short cut to ranking # 1, or even in the top 10. It takes time, diligence, and strategy to reach the top. But patience is the key here. SEO is not a sprint, but a marathon.
