STEP 3: Select a website building platform.
Now that you have picked out a web host and selected a domain name, it is time to choose a website building platform. For beginners, we recommend Squarespace. STEP 4: Design the website.
It’s time to start creating. For some this is the fun part, for others not so much. You will start with a website theme, some of which are offered for free and others which you will have to pay for. Paid themes are not very expensive, and usually worth the investment if you find the right one. However, in most cases you can do just fine with a standard theme.
Make sure it looks professional as you will be judged in a second or less on the appearance of your website. Make sure there are no typos and that everything is neat and tightened up. We recommend going on Google and searching for similar websites not to copy, bur to draw ideas from before you get started.
It is also helpful to preview multiple themes and test the functionality of each before you get too far along in your websites development. It is play to change your theme, just try not to do it to often as it can harm your websites SEO.
STEP 5: Configure site and add content.
Now decide what you want the key aspects of your website to be, and add them to the navigation. Once you have done this, you can start adding content to each section and you are on your way to having built your own website!
